Puffs in the Ocean

Another day at the beach. I(1) and I woke up to Aunt K and Uncle S making buttermilk pancakes. Luckily we caught them in time to add apples to our pancakes and they were delicious!

After breakfast I(1) and I changed and went to the beach, to make sure we got our last day of sand in.  When the crew caught up with us, we has already returned one starfish to the ocean, skirted a washed up (tentacle-less) jellyfish, dug a mini pool and made friends with two older girls (~5 and 7) who caught the smallest fish I’ve ever seen (or maybe I need to get my eyes checked, again).

I(1) must have seen his cousins’ nibbling on goldfish, so he took it upon himself to get his own snacks and bring them back to the pool we dug. And, yes, there were a couple of puff casualties….

Alright, papparazzi – I can’t take it anymore, no more pictures!2011-06-15

After the beach, I(1) and I walked back to the house and took a dip in the pool before heading upstairs for a bath. Next was lunch – peanut butter sandwiches and naptime. If I can keep him up to 1pm, he’ll sleep about 2.5-3 hours.

Last night on the way to dinner, we stopped to take some pictures on the beach. As always, my pretty green/blues were really light sensitive and I squinted through half the pictures. But I can’t hold the good pics of I(1) back…I mean, he’s precious!

Alone at the Beach

I(1) and I opted to go to the beach early this morning again, 830am this morning. We found a walking path to the beach a 5 minute walk from our house. It was perfect, I(1) and I a long stretch of beach and barely anyone else around.  While I didn’t lug the bag o shovels with us, we had a grand time digging a pool and playing chicken with the waves.

Grandpa outfitted us with a tent, which I(1) inspected to make sure it was installed correctly.  He’s very inquisitive, likes to see how everything is put together.

And he’s determined, that the construction is just fine. “A for today, Grandpa!”

009Hey look Ma! I love the full shadow of I in this one….008

It was beautiful to watch how close they got to the water without actually touching it. 001007

You’ll have to forgive me for not getting much of his face. With a big screen on the camera and a bright shining sun, I was keeping my fingers crossed for each shot.

I(1) and I caught three starfish before the rest of the crew arrived. Those poor little creatures were no longer in the water as the tide departed and I(1) and I rescued them by tossing them back in. Although, we did have fun flipping them over and touching their tickling tentacles first.

I didn’t get a chance to snap a picture of it, but since we were there so early, I(1) and I dug a pool which ended up being a good 15 feet from the start of the water, but at 830am this morning, our pool was at the edge of the water. I(1) enjoyed running back and forth from the “pool” to the ocean water. It’s been very fun to watch him in the ocean. Once he gets settled, there is no fear and he charges right in, stops to let a wave crash and then steps in further. There was a point where he was standing in water up to his hips! Brave soul this Mr. Weintraub!

Road Trip and Hilton Head Island

My parents opted for Hilton Head Island this year for the family trip and I’m glad they did, this place is so pretty! There’s Spanish Moss on all the trees and everything in Palmetto Dunes where we’re staying is very shady.

We left yesterday morning and made a pit stop at Macon Mall where we grabbed a bite and let the kids run around. Of course I(1) passed out 30 minutes before getting to the mall and decided that was enough sleep for him the remainder of the afternoon.

We checked in around 4pm because we were stuck in a little bit of island traffic. Having one way to get on and off the island doesn’t make for fast moving traffic.  The house sits at the end of the road on a canal, very shady and spacious. There’s 3 bedrooms downstairs – where Mom, Dad, A, E (4) and N(2.5) are. Upstairs I(1) and I are in a room with 2 twin beds and the second bedroom upstairs has a queen.  I’ve been sleeping there until my brother and his family get here and then I’ll share the room with I(1).

Poor I(1), no nap yesterday other than the 30 minutes before the mall break. When we arrived and unloaded, we took a dip in the pool and then cleaned up for dinner. By the time we made it out the door for dinner, it was 630pm. We opted for the Hilton Head Diner where I(1) had tuna and some of my Challah French Toast and eggs.  We were barely in the car about 745pm, he put his head against his car seat as I buckled him in, and he passed out. Whew!  It was really cute to carry him upstairs and get him tucked in. It’s rare that I get to seem him that tired. *I snuck in all the hugs I could*

I(1) woke at 630am this morning and roused the rest of the house to get up around 715am. We were at the beach, feet in the sand at 815am. It was very fun to watch I(1) with his feet in the sand. At first he wasn’t so sure he was going to like it, but once he got the hang of it, especially along the wet, more compacted sand, I could barely keep up.

Once he went in the water, he couldn’t stop. He loved the waves crashing on him and didn’t mind if one or two knocked him over. He got right back up, pounded his chest and said, “Is that all you got?” Well, ok, I’m exaggerating, but if he could have talked, that’s what he would have said.

Oops, sounds like he just awoke from his nap….more later…

Brunch with Auntie M and S

We had a fun and happy brunch with Auntie M and S at Cheesecake Factory this past Saturday. I(1) loved the avocado egg rolls S ordered and nibbled on the bread – yum!

Auntie M was nice enough to capture a few smiles of Mr. I.

Fun with Finger Paint

I made home made finger paint by mixing a little flour with water and adding some food coloring. I think that I had a good time digging his fingers into the different colors. And now Pablo and I have 2 beautiful paintings on our fridge!
