I can’t believe that almost 8 months has passed since we brought you home. Let’s check in to see what you’ve been up to:
Eating: You’ve been making your way through fruits and veggies! Your favorite veggie is probably sweet potatoes and you love a smooth spinach and pear mixture. You like to nibble on pieces of bread and you love Mom’s pumpkin pancakes for breakfast. Mom and Dad introduced you to their love of Dutch Babies this morning, you liked them, but I’m sure you knew that your’s was missing lemon juice and confectioners sugar. Sorry bud! You’re not a big fan of your highchair anymore, not that you ever were, but you really prefer to sit on our laps, eat from a fork, especially when you get to share in the food that we’re eating. And you love drinking from a cup. Yesterday Mom made strawberry orange juice and you couldn’t get enough! But we have discovered that you are not a big banana fan…
Bath-time: Every day, right after dinner so long as we don’t have company. You don’t always get soap, but you love laying on your back and splashing at the rubber duckies, that is, if you get them out of your mouth long enough to splash them around.
Sleeping: You often are in bed by 730pm and sleep straight thru to 7am, but lately you get up and want a small snack at 1am or 5am. Mom and Dad are not to happy about this, since the doc says that you are supposed to make it through the night. Maybe we should be a little harder on you, it’s not like you have any teeth coming in yet. We tuck you in with your blue blankie, Mr. Monkey and your signing horse that plays “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” along with the beautiful blanket Pamela made for you. Lately, Mom’s been signing a little Bette Midler – Glory of Love. Next week, it will probably be some Beatles songs, she likes to change it up a bit so you don’t get bored.
Landmarks:
You’ve mastered the art of sitting up at about 6 months.
You’re in the process of learning to crawl. You put your arms in front of you and drag your legs. Dad calls it your “inch worm.” And trust me, we’re totally on top of locking up those cabinet doors to make sure you can’t get in. It’s the top of Dad’s to-do list: tomorrow.
You love to stand up, you have since you were just a few months old. If we help you stand up, you’re golden for a couple of minutes.
You are quite a conversationalist. You love talking and you love smiling.
Since you’re mobile, you’ve been exploring your new surroundings and Mom’s realizing that she need to clean the baseboards and a couple of other things.
You had a big day today. This morning, Dutch Babies then naptime. Mom and you met up with Little Miss Shortcake and Mimi at the Jewish Home where we met lots of other little kids and sang songs while the folks that were staying there enjoyed your young and energetic presence. You did lots of mitzvahs this morning Little Man! We met up with Dad for lunch at Ok CafĂ© where you nibbled on Mom’s blueberry pancake and giggled at Cuzin Shortcake. Home for nap and then you had your second or third puppy experience as we dined with our friends from West View. You are so well behaved, Miss West View was dancing around the kitchen singing to you. You were a lucky guy this evening, as their pups kept wanting to kiss you all over. The weekend flew by, but we had a great time!
