Ah – the warm ocean air.

Ilan spent most of his time at the beach lounging in this cabana that Aunt Kelly brought for him. The ocean air and warmth was enough to knock him out for most of the time we were there, but Pablo got in some cuddle time.

This was my first experience at Senor Frogs at Broadway at the Beach. They are quite a festive group and we all had fun with our balloon hats.

Our first family baseball outing

Ilan enjoyed his first baseball game. Minor League “A” team the Pelican. Our seats were great, right near the home plate on the 3rd base line 2nd row. Pablo sure knows how to pick ‘em! My favorite part of the experience was the woman behind me who stated that she didn’t care who won or lost, just how cute the players butts were. Ha!

Week 3 – Bye Bye Magnolia

We said goodbye to our Magnolia tree this week along with a big check to the city to take down this and two other trees.  The previous owner planted the magnolia and a Japanese maple that we had to remove when we replaced the sewer line to the street. The tree guys were really sweet and offered up the best looking sliver of the trunk so that they could glaze it and make a clock. I really like having the previous owners next door and I know they are very excited to see a new family grow up here. 2010 05 21 trees infected (1)

We quickly discovered that one of the pines we paid the city recompense to take down had an infestation and would have come down in the future by itself. Luckily the arborist that removed it wrote me a letter and we’re working on getting some money back from the city. Nope, it’s not going back into our account, there’s a pine that sits directly in the backyard that I want to remove with those funds. The little guy needs a place to kick the soccer ball around…

Footings for our new garage and addition were poured this week. Let’s all keep our fingers cross that it doesn’t rain too hard!

All the bricks are coming up and we’re making this area right outside the guest bedroom a nice green space to gaze upon.  It’s going to be so pretty that I’m almost considering putting the guests in the master bedroom, so Pablo and I can have this view.

Road Trip!

Ilan’s first vacation is underway and we’re on our way to Myrtle Beach to spend some time with the Harris clan. Pablo and I left early Saturday morning and made two stops along the way at Greenville and Florence, SC so that Ilan could have a stretch. Pablo set him up a nice little cot in the back of the car so we could change him and get some stretches in.

We just couldn’t help ourselves. Upon checking into our hotel, we placed Ilan in the center of the king sized bed and the cameras were flashing…

I think he liked it, he posed for the pictures!

After we got settled, we put Ilan in the carrier and walked across the street to Broadway at the Beach for dinner. Ilan was sweet and calm while we ate and stayed up way past his bedtime. I guess that’s what happens when you sleep most of the day. Gotta love his sun hat….

Tough Day on the Job

Pablo and I had to visit our house renovation to work through some new discoveries in the backyard. There had been some water damage on a board. You can see if right under the hole in the black paper. To alleviate this issue, we’ve opted to pour concrete and make it slightly tilt to the backyard, relieving any further issues. Ilan’s onsite for the inspection.

Pablo’s team was supposed to all get together for dinner at La Parilla, our team’s sponsor. So rather than it being the team, Pablo and I joined Scott, Gabi and their son Ethan for dinner. As always, we had a good time.

Father Son Time

Pablo and the little man had some Father Son time this past Saturday and Sunday while I was in Vegas for work.
I think mommy had some parting words for little I so that he would be extra good for Daddy. Last night after some minor gas issues for about an hour Ilan went to bed around 9:30 (So did Dad) and he didn't wake up until 3:15 am! (Almost 6 hours). So we did a 4 ounce feeding and went to bed at 3:45 am and didn't wake up until 6:30, where he had a little formula and snuggled with daddy until 8:30. We just played, ate, and did some head strengthening exercises and he's back to bed listening to some Ben King (Stand by Me). Thanks Mommy!! You're the best!!
I loves his blankie!

Week 2 – New walls

Who doesn’t love the smell of fresh wood? Especially when it’s going up in your new master bathroom!statewood reno 051510 (3)
We didn’t want any columns in the kitchen so that we could have a clear view of the living room. How do you do that? You get this massive LVL beam installed! statewood reno 051510 (1)
This was an exciting week. New walls AND the demo of the carport.  The formers owners were happy to see sunshine beaming on the kitchen door.

Our little boy….

I’s had an exciting week so far!
On Sunday we brunched with Uncle A and M and I made us laugh with his pacifier imprint on his face. We all think he was laughing as Candid Camera was filming our morning. Pablos’s iced coffee came out hot, our lunch took over an hour to come out, Adam’s dressing was wrong twice, Pablo got the wrong meal and M had a hair on her plate.  Mine was just delicious…French Toast with strawberries.  It was great to see Uncle A and M and catch up. M's got a quick finger and snapped this iphone photos of Ilan – I think she caught a little smile here!

Sunday afternoon we visited with Aunt A and the family for Aunt A's graduation party at Mom and Dad’s house. Yeah Aunt A!

On Sunday night, Pablo was trying to come up with a song to sing to I before we put him to bed. He and I really like this song. Tell me if you can get through it without getting teary-eyed. We couldn’t.

Our first graduation ceremony

Today was my first graduation ceremony. My aunt Ashley is graduated college today. The graduation was held at the Georgia Dome and it was utter chaos trying to park and trying to leave the parking deck. Thank goodness Dad put me in the carrier and not in the stroller. I experienced my first tribal dance today too since there were some African ladies near us excited about their sons graduation and were singing and dancing. Mom and Dad changed me on a Dippin dots cart and we got stuck behind a horse and buggy on the way home. Needless to say we didnt get a picture with the graduate and It was quite and experience with Aunt Kelly in the car.
This is what I wore to the event.

We are all very excited for Aunt Ashley! She had straight A's this past semester too!
Well get a photo with the graduate tomorrow at her party.

Mothers Day Dinner

Pablo surprised me with a Mothers Day dinner at La Grotta in Buckhead last night. It was the best Italian food we've had since our engagement trip to Italy.
Paul had tagliatelle with shrimp and peppers and i had a goat cheese ravioli, both were fabulous!

No meal is complete without dessert a - chocolate gelato and homemade tiramisu- yum!
We are definately going back!

Assi Supermarket

While touring yesterday, Michele and I stopped in to check out the Assi supermarket on Gwinnett. It's very similar to Super H matt with small outcroppings of individual shops along with the infamous seafood section.
This was a snapshot of the Hispanic bakery- talk about carbs!

Week 1 - Everyone loves demo!

Although two weeks late due to permitting delays, the crew started interior demolition. It’s so satisfying, demolition, Pablo and I wish we could have done some. Then again, better the crew tackle it – as Pablo and I likely would have hit a water line.
