Paul and I opted to go with costumes that I could show off my belly.

I had to stick it out a little more than it is, but little WIP was up for the challenge.

We even had orange tic tacs and a bottle of Sunny Delight.

Pregnancy Photos – 18 weeks

Amazing how much changes in just a week, or less in this case.

Less definition in my tummy line and my breasts look bigger.  Crazy changes.
I’m starting to feel better about the changes, especially with all the new beautiful clothes that we purchased in Florida. I wore a pair of grey maternity pants today and ah, it’s so nice to be able to breathe in them.
Pablo will be happy to know that I had egg salad for lunch, plenty of protein for the growing Baby Weintraub.

Jillian’s Baby Shower

Pablo and I traveled to Florida this past weekend to spend time with our family and celebrate the upcoming birth of our newest nephew, Nicholas Lawrence Casher.

We dined at a little Italian restaurant, Anacapri on the corner of Ponce de Leon Blvd in Miami. The upstairs room was just perfect for the 25 of us celebrating Jillian and her Mommyhood.

We all feasted on the Italian pastries including chocolate creme puffs, tiramisu and cannolis. Yum!

Jesse and Pablo joined us to open gifts, but Jesse let Izzy do all the hard work.

Pablo trip to Switzerland Oct 2009

Paul arrived at his layover stop on his way to Switzerland...

Hey Guys,
Made it to Paris. Oh the joy...
Peachy flight that included your standard sold out crunchfest, crying babies, and stinky french and Haitians (please read between the hours of 7:00 and 7:01)
I accrued a total of 0 minutes of sleep but I don't have to go into the office today so I will try to figure something out to get adjusted.
Anyway, I'll be leave for Zurich in about 30 minutes so bye for now

Pregnancy Photos

I’ll start taking these each week, since it was not until recently that you could see a belly. I swear my pregnancy is all in my butt and hips. I can’t wait to get back to kickboxing to get rid of this weight! Below is my 18 week photo. I’ll post the new ones next to these to try and see the belly evolution.  I think my breasts look great in this photo!

Happy For Mom

Mom, the never ending helper, has given her friend Ms. M emotional support while Ms. M is divorcing her husband and trying to find another home for herself and 3 kids; one of whom was in a severe car accident a year ago.
Over the years, I consider it an honor, that many friends and family members have said that when I walk into a room, there’s a light that enters with me and fills up the room. It’s such an amazing compliment and I blush every time I hear it. But I’ve recently been reminded that women in my family often had this effect on others:
From: Ms. M
Sent: Saturday, October 17, 2009 7:07 PM
To: ______, Mindy
Subject: sometimes
During the storms of life, God puts lighthouses in the midst to show you
the way.  Thanks for being my lighthouse to get through this murky time!
Love you!  I mean it and I would do anything for ya!  I hope you know
that!
Love,
Ms M.

Not that Mom needs a reminder to how wonderful she is, but I did send her a happy note back after she shared this with me.
Guess the apple doesn’t often fall far from the tree…
I love you Mom!

Pregnancy Journal – Part One

Why am I having such a hard time adjusting to being pregnant? It’s amazing, I was so so proud of myself and getting down to 128 pounds kickboxing 4 times a week and eating a high raw diet. I was in great shape. I’m sure that I can do it again, but I need to psych myself up more about the fact that there’s a lil Weintraub inside of me. Pablo and I have created a new life, our child. I guess I’m just feeling a little selfish still, having just recently reached a goal that I thought I never could. Don’t laugh, I really feel like I’m just fat. Maybe it’s related to my physique growing up and always feeling not so fit, but I am not quite fit now, nor not quite pregnant, so I just feel pudgy. Just for kicks, I googled “feeling fat while pregnant.” Most women said that pregnancy was a time of joy and excitement. Is it bad or can the baby tell that I feel this way? I feel horrible about it. Perhaps exercising more than I have been will help, but I get so bored of walking Chastain over and over again. There’s only two different ways around the park.
I figured my personal blog would be best suited to bitch and moan about pregnancy, or rather report on the joys. I had my 2nd OB/GYN appt today and weighed in at 145lbs. Ugh! It’s so mentally draining. I’m loading up on fruits and veggies tonight, after I finish the brownies I made last night. Doc told me not to freak out about it, just maintain exercise.
I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced heartburn before, but after I eat it’s almost like there’s gas trying to come up through my throat and escape. Maybe that’s what they call “heartburn.”  I think it may be from my pre-natal vitamins and may have to split them up throughout the day rather than taking all 3 at once.
Baby’s looking good, a 150 BPM heart rate this morning with an 18 inch waist he determined just by looking at me. I had them take blood to check my TSH levels since I’ve been taking 137mcg of Synthroid every day.  I thought I was 16 weeks today, but Doc has me calculated that I’m 16 wks and 5 days today. Crazy! Therapy appointment this morning  helped me work through my weight issue and challenges, so I have the tools to enjoy this journey more. I feel confident that once I feel the baby or maybe after the next ultrasound it will be more REAL. Today was fun to hear the heartbeat, but I’m not sure the reality has quite set in – and who knows, it may not set in until WIP comes out of it’s hiding place.
They say that the baby is about the size of a turnip, which is probably close in size to an onion. So our lil onion today, probably looks about this size. Hopefully, s/he will smell better.

Registering, aka the stress of figuring how to fit baby, etc. into a 1 bedroom condo

Lash took me to Babies R Us to register for Lil WIP and I compared prices to Target’s baby section to get the best deal on things. This whole baby thing is so overwhelming.  It’s amazing that something so small requires so much space for it’s things.  I mean, I guess it’s completely manageable, there are plenty of women who live in NYC and have babies, so we’ll figure it out. It’s just a matter of deciding what existing items are heading off to storage AND making sure there’s room in the storage unit for the additional items. We may be re-organizing our storage until this weekend. Looks like two reclining chairs, a dining room table and a couple of chairs will be heading off to storage.

What’s incoming? Crib, Glider with ottoman, swing, baby play station, stroller, car seat. It’s going to be one colorful 1000 sq ft for sure!

I’ve decided for home that we’re going cloth diapers. It will be a challenge to get Pablo in the swing of things, but it seems pretty simple according to the video's I’ve been watching.

Predicting the Future

It’s certainly going to be interesting having an Aries child. I grew up with two Aries in my house, one my mom and the other my sister. It was quite a wild experience. Ram’s often like to butt heads. Did I say often?

Edie and Baby Weintraub: &

With an active Aries child in your care, you don't get many quiet moments to yourself. Like a ball of pure kinetic energy, your child is here, there and everywhere, and your job is to chase after her, making both of you laugh with pleasure! Of course, as she grows bigger and bolder, she also becomes more independent -- which is fine with you. You enjoy pursuing your theories in conversation with like-minded friends, but you also like being alone with your thoughts, and your Aries child will be happy to pursue her own exciting adventures.  Still, pay attention in case you need to put out any fires! Impulsive by nature, your little one is bound to get into scrapes as she pushes the limits of the world around her. And she'll surely need some help from you in learning to control her temper.

Pablo and Baby Weintraub: &

Your Aries child's innate courage may surprise you. She certainly didn't get that brash, aggressive personality from you! Your style is far more cautious and reserved, but not so for your little firebrand. She seems to charge at the world horns-first, just like a little ram, and like that occasionally pugnacious animal, your child can be a destructive force sometimes.  Disorder of any kind makes you uneasy, so you'll have to be patient, difficult as that will be, watching your little Aries battle her way through childhood. Instead, remind yourself that your child possesses a warrior's heart, and set a good example for her. How could you not? You're innately practical and respectful of others, and you're sure to be a grounding influence on your little one. Just try not to be overly critical. After all, that fiery, impulsive energy is part of her charm.

Sounds like we’re going to have a wild child on our hands. Wish us luck and plenty of patience.
