Bruce makes friends whereever he goes.
On a beautiful Saturday in September, Bruce, Mindy, Paul and Edie hiked up to see Amicalola falls in North Georgia.
Amicalola, a Cherokee Indian word meaning "tumbling waters," is an appropriate name for these 729-foot falls ~~ the tallest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River. An 8.5 mile approach trail leads from the park to Springer Mountain, the southern end of the 2,135-mile Appalachian Trail.
We just did the 1.5 mile hike up and walked down the stairs - thought we'd start off easy.
We rounded off the day with a visit to Dahlonega for lunch.
