Sleeping on the Job….

I came home to find my two favorite people sleeping on the job. It's so hard to find good help these days!

MVP Training Take Two!

In the spirit of training for the World Cup 2030, I installed a soccer ball on the exercise mat so that I could practice his kicks.
This afternoon we had lunch with Aunt Mary and Uncle Alan at CPK at Lenox Mall. We would have stayed and walked the mall with them, except that Mommy and Daddy are trying to be me on a schedule where I have three 1 hour naps throughout the day and then go to bed at 7pm. With our refinance closing this morning at 8am and lunch with Aunt Mary and Uncle Alan at 1245pm, I was able to sleep a lot. (Poor Mommy and Daddy are not going to be happy with me tonight).

World Cup 2030 here I come!

Mommy,

Don’t worry – Dr. Pip said that I’m right on track to be in the 2030 World Cup. I’m now 10 lbs 3 ounces and have stretched out to 22 inches! I’m sorry that I peed all over the nice nurse today, but you did tell her that I pee when I get cold and after Daddy took off my comfy outfit and diaper, I just couldn’t help myself. Besides, somebody needs to tell them that their scale is way too cold! How much could my diaper weigh anyway?

You’ll be so proud of me – look what I put together! My growth chart – so you can track me like Dr. Pip does!

I was also a very good boy when the pretty nurse from Nashville gave me my Hepatitis B shot. I was a little shocked at first and forgot to breathe, but Daddy calmed me back down with some yummy milk.

I know you and Daddy really enjoy your sleep and I promise I will do my best to get on Dr. Pip’s schedule: 1 hour naps, then playtime, eat, tummy time, diaper change. I’m ok with bedtime at 7pm, I will try really hard not to get upset when you lay me down and don’t rock me – but I know it’s for the best and you want me to calm myself to sleep.  I promise, I’ll try!

I really enjoyed my first trip to Chastain park. The weather was nice and cool and you bundled me up warm and snuggly. I just wish Auntie Rachel was there with us, I know how much the three of us used to walk Chastain when I was in your tummy.

Tough Day

Mom and I went to La Leche meeting this morning where moms and their kids talked about breastfeeding except that Mom and I had to leave early to interview a nanny.
Nanny was great-turns out her husband is in the sane industry as my Mommy. I think Mom has a couple more interviews before she choses my lucky nanny.
Don't you just love my onesie today? Mom thinks it's cute but prays that it's not true.

I's First Piece of mail

What a lucky guy- just barely a month old and already getting fan mail! Oh wait, it's the social security administration. I asks, "Dad's already charging me room and board- does social security help me with that bill?"

A Good Night

When I was 12, a “good night” was having Susan, Emily and Lauren over for a sleep over where we’d watch The Color Purple and Lauren would steam roll us in bed.

When I was 18, a “good night” was double dating with my brother, Sean – bowling and seeing a movie.

When I was 24, a “good night” was dancing the night away and getting home after the sun rose.

When I was 30, a “good night” was dinner and movie with Pablo in bed by midnight.

At 32 and a new mom, a “good night” is my little boy sleeping for more than a 2.5 hour stretch.

I found this cartoon on babycenter and thought it very fitting. We switched Ilan to a gentle Enfamil formula while has 80% less lactose than the other formula we were using and he slept 2.5 hours, followed by another 3 hour snooze! It was heavenly and I was a happy mom, getting at least 5.5 hours of sleep. This morning I wanted to go back to bed, but Ilan wanted to snuggle, so we came out to the living room and snuggled back to sleep on the couch. I’m worried that our bed is too soft for him, otherwise we would have snuggled there.

It’s amazing how one’s measurement of a “good night” changes through the years.

Here’s hoping our lil boy does the same tonight!

Dinner with Mimi, Gampa, Evan and Ashley

After Pablos soccer game we spent the afternoon with Aunt A, Cousin E and Mimi. Gampa found a turtle for E to name Fred and then returned him to the woods. The turtle named Fred, not E. Hee hee.
Ashley wasted no time in scooping up her nephew for some love. I think he likes Aunt A.
We all grabbed dinner at Vintage Pizza in downtown Crabapple.

Ok, so yes, he has my chin and my shaped eyes, but probably his father’s eye and hair color.

Poor lil guy, this is such a mug shot.

Dogwood Festival Day 1 and 2

Kelly and Sadie joined Pablo and I for the first day of the Dogwood Festival.  The days never get to boring now that we’re proud parents. First, Sadie had a little meltdown when we moved her in her carseat from Kelly’'s car to ours. It was a little environmental shock, being in a new car. We safely made it to the park and found a spot near the bridge. Poor Ilan had an explosive doody attack and we had to wipe down the carseat and change his diaper.  We didn’t make it all the way around the park, but we did enjoy our quiet spot in the shade at a picnic table while Pablo fed Ilan and Sadie and I shared some kettle corn. (Don’t worry Sean, she only had a handful at a time). The most entertaining part of the day was when Kelly was holding Ilan and walked over to see Sadie’s reaction. Poor Sadie is in for a rude awakening when Harris #2 comes along in August.

On Saturday, we spent the morning with Adam and Melissa, exposing Ilan to the beautiful weather and fresh air and Melissa to her first Funnel Cake and Krispy Kreme donuts. We’re such a good influence!

Naptime!

Big day today: We lunched with Aunt Ashley, Nathan, Aunt Kelly and Sadie at the mall today. It's amazing how many kidlets are in suburbia! The mall was filled and I would gather that the demos of the mall today had a median age of 13. After lunch we went to visit Gampa and his machine shop, but he was out looking at equipment so we visited with Uncle Sean instead. I was so pooped afterwards I passed out on mommy lap. Ah- naptime.

Mimi's Outfit

Mimi picked out this outfit and a pink one (in case I was a girl) too. Mommy returned the pink one since it wasn't my color and I got to keep this one. Don't I look cute?

Bathtime!

Ilan had his first bath today. We let the warm water come up to his bum and then used a washcloth to rinse him. This must have been the shot when he got the water on his bum – look at that face!

Caught another cute shot while he was sleeping….Speaking of sleeping – he’s awake about every 2-2.5 hours, sometimes less. But we cannot wait to get him on a schedule as soon as possible.
