A Brit milah is a religious ceremony within Judaism to welcome infant Jewish boys into a covenant between God and the Children of Israel through ritual circumcision performed by a mohel ("circumciser"). This happens on the eighth day of the child's life unless health reasons or certain specific conditions pertaining to the date, time, and conditions of birth vis-a-vis the Sabbath and/or holidays force a delay, in the presence of family and friends, followed by a celebratory meal. Since the 8th day this year turned out to be the 2nd day of Passover, we had a the bris on day 7.
Ilan’s bris was held on March 29th in our building and many friends and family attended the special event. MImi, Grammie J, Papa Phil, Sherry, Aunt Ashley and Aunt Amy took charge and helped plan the event. Sherry was a doll and brought lots of stuffed animals to decorate. Ilan enjoyed snuggling in them at the end of his long day.
